These days, the stakes are a lot higher for school district leaders during high profile incidents. Intense scrutiny by the press and in social media, skyrocketing financial claims in civil lawsuits, and attacks on the credibility and professionalism of administrators create immense pressure on leaders to respond well to their publics. In this session, a panel of leaders from Redlands USD will reflect on lessons learned from handling a string of sexual misconduct cases, including the dynamics of plaintiff’s lawyers working through reporters to try their cases in the court of public opinion. RUSD will describe its ACT Now! prevention and intervention program to engage students and staff to report suspected misconduct if they See Something, Hear Something or Sense Something is wrong.
